Description
Michel François Platini (born in 1955, France) is considered one of the best and most versatile footballers in history. In the years 1972-1987 Platini was extremely successful being a professional soccer player. He played for AS Nancy, AS Saint-Étienne, and five years for Juventus with which he won two Italian championships, the Italian Cup, the Champions Cup, the Cup Winners’ Cup and the Intercontinental Cup, and three times, as an individual, the Ballon d’Or naming him the European Footballer of the Year. In 1986 Platini’s team won the bronze medal during the FIFA World Cup in Mexico. While playing for France, for which he played in 72 matches, Platini took part in three world cup tournaments (1984) and triumphed in the European Cup (when he was also named top goal scorer). In the years 1988-1992 Platini was coach for the national team. Since mid 1990s Platini has served on the board of UEFA, and since 26 January 2007 has been the Chairman of UEFA.
Obverse
In the central part of the coin there is the logo of the “Kings of Football” series. On the edge of the coin there is an inscription „Republic of Armenia” in Armenian (at the top) and English (at the bottom). Under the series logo there is the face value of the coin - 100 drams (inscription in Armenian). Below there is the year of issue (2011) in the centre of which there is the emblem of the Republic of Armenia.
Reverse
In the central part of the coin there is the image of player’s bust. In the upper part there is a semicircular inscription “Michel Platini” in the lower one there is player’s hand signature. In the background there is a ball leaving behind a trail in the colors of a Argentinian flag.
